Is the law of attraction always working, or only working every now and then when you want it to? When asked, most people will answer that of course the law of attraction isn’t only working when you want it to, but if you look at their lives, they might just live as if it did.

It is easy for us to look at other people and see what they are doing wrong when it comes to the law of attraction, but much harder to take the same look at ourselves. One thing that is repeated over and over again in almost all the material dealing with the law of attraction is the importance of taking responsibility.

We accept this concept in theory, and we might even be able to look at our past and admit to attracting to us the bad stuff that happened. Our problem comes when we are asked to do this in everyday life. It is hard to stop pointing fingers around at other people, blaming them for causing us problems or making us feel bad.

It is hard because we have years of experience with the finger pointing, and a lot of us still have a hard time taking responsibility without feeling that there is something wrong with us or blaming ourselves for the mistakes we made.

As hard as it might be, it is important to take responsibility. The finger pointing and blaming other people only attracts more things to place blame for. As harsh as it may sound, it is never them and always you. Whatever problems you have in your life, you created, and only by doing something different can you create something else.

The first thing you need to do in order to get a better life is to stop pointing to others when something goes wrong or you don’t feel good and start owning up to it. Rather than focusing on what someone else did or didn’t do to you, try to focus on what you can do for someone else.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and is looking forward to a happy and prosperous new year. In this post I want to talk about the law of attraction and love. I receive many e-mails asking about manifesting relationships, so I thought it was finally time to go on record and say something about this here on the AttractAnything blog.

First, attraction works in every area of life, including relationships. There are no special rules or strategies to use to attract a great relationship — the usual law of attraction principles will apply.

Having said that, the easiest way to manifest positive relationships is to “act as if” you already have them. I got a great e-mail from “Steve”(not his real name) in Australia this week, wherein he described the process of using the law of attraction to attract a new relationship into his life. I will use “Steve’s” situation as an example here, because he was in the perfect state of mind to attract love into his life, and that is exactly what he did.

Steve used the time honored law of attraction principle which is sometimes also called “fake it until you make it.” He simply DECIDED that he already had a great relationship in his life, and began ACTING from this point of view.

Steve also avoided the biggest problem most people seem to have in attracting a loving relationship; he refused to be in a mindset of desperation. I’m sure that everyone reading this is already aware that desperation is NEVER attractive to a potential partner. In fact, it has the effect of pushing people and relationships away from us.

But on the other hand, when we “act as if” we already have a perfect relationship; it attracts partners to us like bees to honey. This is all common sense of course; it’s not anything unique to law of attraction teaching. And although love can seem complicated and confusing sometimes, it is actually a very simple process that follows the same universal laws as every other desire we may have in life.

Now, the biggest objection I hear about the process Steve used (which is incidentally also the process I used to attract my partner Elizabeth — wink wink) is that it is “being a phony.” My answer to this charge is always the same: “yes you are right; it is being a phony.”

If a person’s definition of “being a phony” is to act as if certain things are true before they technically come about, then yes, I am guilty as charged. But you know what? Acting from the end result (acting “as if”) is the way that we attract things into our life — all things. If this bothers you, or you feel that it is “phony” or “fake,” then you’re going to have a lot of trouble manifesting anything worthwhile in your life.

The law of attraction requires us to have faith in things unseen. So even if you feel lonely, or you feel desperate for a partner, you MUST switch your mindset to one of contentment and gratitude that you already have a great relationship. In other words, “you’ve got to fake it until you make it.”

You can certainly attract love with the law of attraction by using the same universal principles that govern every other area of our life. If you want to be a successful business person; begin acting like you already are a successful business person. If you want to be rich; begin acting like you already are rich. And if you want to attract love and a perfect relationship into your life; begin acting like you already have love and a perfect relationship in your life. The law of attraction will make it so.

Wishing you continued prosperity and success,
Jon
