“The thought is the ancestor of all action,” said Ben Franklin. Old Ben was pretty wise–no action we can possibly take will benefit us if it is based on the wrong thoughts. I think this is why many Law of Attraction teachers (including myself) ALWAYS put the mental aspect first, and action second.
Action that is based on the wrong paradigm or mindset will get you no where fast. It can actually be worse than no action at all.
For example, Hitler was an extremely action-oriented person, but his actions were based on the wrong set of beliefs and paradigms–we’d all have been better off if he had taken less action! That’s an extreme example, but the concept applies on a smaller scale to zillions of actions people take daily.
In my experience, human beings are ALREADY very action oriented. It’s usually just the wrong actions (prison is full of action-taking go-getters :-) I think this is why LOA teachers like myself appear to give so much attention to “thought,” before even mentioning the subject of “action.” It is the primary cause.
When you shift the way you think about yourself and the world, you will shift the WAY you act too. Wallace Wattles talks about “acting in the certain way” in his book, The Science of Getting Rich. There’s a chapter in that book that explains the role of action better than anything I’ve read.
