I’m always on the lookout for new technologies and methods of promoting success consciousness and the “winning” mindset, and last year I discovered an unusual combination of methods that get really great results. I’ve heard it said that money won’t solve all your problems, but I can confidently make this assertion: there is NO problem you can have in life that LACK of money won’t make worse (think about it).

We all want financial success, but not many of us understand HOW to attract wealth. Most put it down to luck or being born wealthy or some other outside influence. When the truth is…wealth begins inside you. It all starts with your beliefs and your habitual way of looking at the world.

Have you heard the old expression “money is the root of all evil,” or something similar? This paradigm is common in society, and yet there is no truth to it at all. Money is neither good nor bad — it is what we do with it that makes all the difference.

In order to attract riches into your life, you must appreciate all the good money does in the world. If you see money as “sinful” or “evil” you can’t be too surprised when it doesn’t exactly flow to you like a raging river…

It’s true, of course, that there are tight-fisted, stingy and money grubbing rich people. But by the same token, there are also many generous and giving rich people who do untold good in the world (look at the billions of dollars Bill Gates has donated to charity, for example)

It’s helpful to remind ourselves that financial wealth does a lot of good in the world. It builds hospitals, funds charities, paves roads and provides clean drinking water (a really big deal in much of the world) for millions of people. If those aren’t positive things, I don’t know what is. (continued below)

The law of attraction teaches this point of view about money, and I believe it is a useful perspective. Too many of us have been brainwashed into the assumption that lack and scarcity are simply “the way things are,” and abundance is just an illusion. This is the complete opposite of the message of the law of attraction, and completely out of touch with reality and common sense.

Thinking that we have to scratch and claw in the “rat race” for money is a lack-based mindset, and (take it from someone who’s been there) it’s also completely false. This false paradigm points us toward a belief that it is hard to be wealthy (when it actually isn’t). But as long as people embrace this notion, they find it hard to get ahead in life, and often struggle to attain any success at all. Their BELIEFS hold them back.

To attract wealth and abundance, we have to establish a positive relationship with money, and learn to give and receive freely. The enemy, as always, is fear.

Fear tries to convince us that we don’t deserve wealth, or it would be a hassle if we got it, or that it would change us into a bad person, or any number of other silly mistruths. The reality is, we should never buy into “the myth of lack.’ Nature is abundant, and there is always more than enough for everyone, once we open our eyes to it.

A competitive or fearful mindset derails many people who want to attract wealth. It stops the flow, and prevent us from giving and receiving openly. And once that happens, we are no longer living in abundance–we have turned to the “dark side,” the side of fear and the competitive mindset.

The competitive mindset is that little voice that tries to make us resent the success of others, or criticize those who have created abundance. It attempts to convince us we must compare ourselves to other and “keep up with the Jones’.” It is, without any doubt, the reason so many people wind up feeling trapped in the “rat race.” It is nothing less than a prison for our minds.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can realize that every one of us has our own path to abundance. And if an individual we know comes into wealth we can feel happy and excited for them, and we should — because our time will come too.

The truth is, there is no reason to EVER compete for wealth. The abundant universe provides plenty for all. Plenty of money, love, success and everything else. It’s all there, just waiting for us to turn our attention to it.

Today I just wanted to remind everyone (including me) how important it is to spend your days doing what you love. They say nothing is guaranteed in life–and tomorrow is not a “given” — not for any of us. That’s why it is so important to do what you love to do in life, and do it TODAY.

If you find yourself toiling away at a job or a lifestyle or in a relationship or (fill in the blank) that you don’t like on a daily basis, it’s time to make a change. But what is it that keeps us from moving forward in life, from letting go of those things we don’t want? One word: fear.

Fear keeps us in a perpetual state of indecision, and prevents us from recognizing and claiming our true calling in life. And don’t misunderstand me–I don’t mean YOUR fear is holding YOU back. Not at all. Fear is universal, and we ALL deal with it sometimes. I have to face fears all the time–sometimes I do so admirably, but other times I cave in or whimp out. That is simply part of the human condition, and I have personally never met anyone who has COMPLETELY conquered fear from their life.

But the good news is, you don’t have to conquer fear completely to become a more-evolved, more highly functioning (i.e a prosperous and successful) person. But you DO have to make an effort, and try to face up to your insecurities and fears, and then move forward even though you are scared.

“Just a Dream”

A client of mine in New Zealand once told me his greatest dream was to buy a boat and sail around the world. When I asked him what action he had taken toward acheiving that dream he replied, “nothing, I mean it’s just a dream — not something I could actually do.”

And of course he had a long laundry list of reasons why he could never sail around the world; too dangerous, required too much money, his family wouldn’t accept it, and so on… But when we went through his reasons one by one, he discovered that ALL of these excuses were based on one simple mindset: fear.

And you know what? Whether he eventually sails around the world or not is not terribly important. But whether he tries to make it happen or not is VERY important! Trying — expending effort on behalf of our dreams — is everything in life. Because lets face it: we all have only so many days and so much energy to spend on this planet. What we do with it is entirely our call. If we don’t use our time and energy in the pursuit of our dreams, then by default, we will use our time an energy on things we don’t like or care about. Imagine looking back on your life from your last day and realizing that you wasted it on things you didn’t care about at all. Scarey thought, isn’t it?

Do What You Love — Full Stop

Even if what you love seems impractical or improbable, do it anyway. The alternative is to give in to fear, and let it keep you in servitude to things you don’t like for the remainder of your years.

You (like me) will likely never conquer all of your fears. That’s just life, and you should never feel bad about that–being human is a GOOD thing after all. Just keep pushing toward what makes you happy, what drives you. Do what you love, or die trying. The alternative is to do what you hate, and die doing that. Seems like a pretty easy decision to make when you look at it that way…

You may have noticed that it is easy to attract money (or anything else) as long as you don’t need it. This is an unfailing law of the universe that becomes obvious once we start looking for it. Lets look at a few examples:

Let’s say you run a company and you are interviewing candidates for a job. Who would you rather hire: a person who is desparate for the position because they don’t believe anyone else will hire them, or a person who knows they have many options and is accordingly calm and confident during the interview?

In my experience, the second candidate will get the job 9 times out of 10. And this same logic applies to a million other scenarios. Another example: Who would you rather go on a date with: someone who is obviously desparate to go out with you, or someone who has relaxed and laid back, has plenty of other opportunities, but they are interested in you and would enjoy getting to know you?

The point is this: desparation is NEVER attractive. Not to other employers, not to potential dates, and not to the Universe. To attract money, you must rid yourself of any desparation for the green stuff, and decide that you already have it.

The Universe (and people) always give us more of what we already “have,” NOT what we want. Attracting money is a simple as deciding that you already have it. This puts you in a state of gratitude because you have money, which is the ideal minset to attract even more money.

Of course, it can take time to develop this mindset–it took me years, for example. But once you understand that “your belief makes it so,” you will see the results in your life (and your bank account!).

Stop “needing” money or “wanting” money, and start “having” money, even if it is all in your head at first. Remember, we attract money and prosperity to us by virtue of our beliefs, not our wants or needs.

Advanced Law of Attraction Exercises

Years ago, I learned a few Law of Attraction Secrets that changed my life. Today I want to write about one of them.

When I first read The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles I was presented with an idea that was completely foreign to me: “There is no lack, poverty or limitation in the world — there is only abundance.”

At the time, I must confess that I found this idea to be completely absurd. Like many people, I was used to looking at the world in such a way that I assumed that there was a limited amount of everything good — money, property, opportunities, relationships, success — and that my job on this planet (like everyone else’s) was to struggle and fight to get my share of it before the other guy took it away from me.

The truth is, most of us can be forgiven for falling into this lack-based point of view. After all, we are inundated by TV and other media that bombard us with the idea that we are hapless victims in this life, and will be lucky to get anything good at all.

But even though I did not truly believe Wattle’s assertion that there was only abundance in the world, I continued to read his book, curious of what possible justification he could have for making such an outrageous statement. Before long I began to (slowly at first) see exactly what he meant by this claim.

You see, Wattle’s pointed out that all of us choose how we will look at the world. Fearful people choose to see the world as scary; generous people choose to see the world as generous; hateful people choose to see the world as full of hate; wealthy people choose to see the worldas wealthy; and so on, and so on…

As I continued to study the work of Wallace Wattles and other Law of Attraction teachers, I came to see the truth of abundance in the world — and how all limitation, lack or poverty is simply illusion, albeit some times a very persistent one.

You’ve heard that old saying, “there are two sides to every coin.” Well, there are also two ways of looking at anything that happens in your life: you can look at something from the point of view of lack and poverty, or you can look at it from the point of view of wealth and abundance.

Many people do not realize that they have this choice — that they can consciously choose to see anything that happens in the world from a lack-based or wealth-based point of view. Understanding these Law of Attraction Secrets enable you to create the life YOU choose.

Now some of my students understand this point very clearly, but they will still object and say, “yes Jon, I get that; but even if I view something that happens from a wealth-based point of view it still does not change the reality of what is happening — for example, if I lose my job, I can view this from a wealth-based pointed view, but I still don’t have a job!”

I understand this objection very well, but here’s the important point to understand: when you choose to look at things from a wealth-based point of view, it will affect how you RESPOND to the situation. In other words, if you lose your job and you respond to this event from a lack-based point of view, you will likely feel desperate, and you may even accept the first position you are offered, even if it makes you miserable and is poorly paid.

But what if you lose your job and you respond to this from a wealth-based point of view? Your certainty of wealth and abundance will prevent you from accepting a poorly paid position that will make you unhappy — and your confidence and optimism will make you far more attractive to prospective employers who can offer you a good job, one worthy of your wealthy state of mind. You see how this works?

To create wealth in your life you MUST have a wealthy state of mind. This is one of the most important secrets of the Law of Attraction, so I want to say it another way to make sure the point is fully understood:

You can not get rich as long as you continue to have a poor state of mind.

The way you experience the world on the inside — your state of mind — will always be an exact reflection of how you experience the world on the outside. No exceptions. Remember, poverty is a myth–an illusion. Abundance is all. Use these Law of Attraction secrets to create the life YOU want and the wealth and success you deserve!
