Law of Attraction Tip: Take Care what you are Attracting!
I got a lot of emails recently asking about the affects of watching crime and drama on TV. Most people asked something like, “if the law of attraction says we get what we focus on consistently, am I going to invite crime and drama into my life by watching shows like CSI?”.
Here’s how I see it:
Basically, I never watch shows like this. It’s not that I don’t like them (I think some are really good), but I have learned the hard way that whatever I focus that much attention upon has an influence on my life.
Example: I’ve been a big Hugh Laurie fan for years (House MD), but I won’t watch House. I’m sure it’s a brilliant show (with Laurie in the lead role, how could it not be?). So I’m not judgemental about it, but I KNOW that programming yourself with images of disease, conflict and suffering DOES affect your state of mind. This is not only my gut feeling, there is also practically a mountain of research that suggests that physical health is very closely tied to (and affected by) attitude — our state of mind.
From a Law of Attraction point of view, our thoughts and feelings are nothing but energy (like everything else), and they follow the same pattern as ALL energy: like energy attracts. So focusing on these shows (even if they are interesting and well-made) is NOT something I would recommend.
It’s hard to say exactly what kind of effect these shows will have on you (on what you are attracting). This comes down to how they make you feel. But in general, when you are focusing on high-drama and conflict you are attracting these things into your life in one way or another (again, like energy attracts).
We are each creating our own little universe as we go along–our own “reality.” And we create it with our thoughts and feelings. The trouble is, TV dramas “pull” at our emotions and manipulate us into feeling a certain way. When this happens, we are no longer controlling our energy and what we are attracting–someone else is.
I think one very useful law of attraction tip is to understand that what you choose to say “yes” to, and what you choose to say “no” to is critically important. In that choice is where all your real power lies…
